Halloween prep and more

The big Halloween party is tonight. I have a long list still of things to get done... and I have slime to make. The kids did alot of the prep stuff yesterday but Tagen sat around and ate tootsie rolls in his new glasses.

One of those mornings

I was thinking last night about how I really don't have anything exciting to update on here. Be careful what you wish for?

Asha, who is our psychotic, feral-ish, outdoor cat had a kitten last night. We weren't overly surprised as she wasn't fixed and we haven't even tried to catch her to get her fixed. She rejected it, which also didn't surprise us a whole lot. Like I said, she's not all there anyway. Thankful that it was just one, this morning I ran to the feed store and bought a kitty feeding kit and replacement milk all set to revisit interrupted nights for feedings.

Lucy, our other little white cat, had a litter a few months back and the last 2 kittens went to a good home a week ago, so we were going to call today and make an appointment for her to get fixed next week (2 weeks for milk glands to normalize, etc). Lucy was mourning her 2 last kittens pretty badly and has been wandering around looking for them still.

Unsure if Asha was still having kittens, we put Asha and the kitten in our bathroom last night. No more kittens and no interest in this one. The kitten cried all night, and Lucy, hearing it cried from the other room all night.

This morning we let Asha out and she was gone in a heartbeat. Lucy was interested and licked the kitten but kind of stayed away. But now that I've fed the kitten once, Lucy is pretty interested and keeps moving it and cleaning it. I think it even nursed but I don't want to get too close yet to find out for sure or she'll move it again and she's eyeing the ledge above the kitchen cabinets.

The vet said that Lucy is the best replacement and that her milk will come right back. We can still suppliment her feedings if she's having problems.

It's interesting that Lucy has taken over. When Lucy's kittens were 5-6 weeks old, Asha spent a lot of time with them. She kind of took them over. Lucy fed and cleaned them, but Aunt Asha snuggled with them and played with them the rest of the time.

The funny thing is that I find myself sitting here thinking of everything I haven't gotten done because of my exciting morning.

Hi there!

So I was asked why I have a ghost blog but don't have my own personal blog, you know, the type with family photos and all. I used to. And it was a fun way to keep in touch with friends and family. But unfriendly, unhappy people frequented it too and I stopped posting. Now that unfriendly or unhappy people don't matter much anymore, it makes no sense to not have a blog. So here it is! I have a myspace page too that anyone is welcome to visit me on if you are over there.

Where to begin... I guess where we are. Oregon - getting ready for Halloween - enjoying the totally wonderful fall weather we've been having. We are having a halloween party for the kids and their friends on Friday. Halloween is supposed to be scary. What's more scary than that?

Here's some pics of the kids that I took at the playground.

And then there's Sarah driving. Scary really. Okay not so much. If you've not met Sarah, she's our 17 year old neighbor/adoptee.

I have great pictures of them all (and Braden) at the beach. I'll post them when I scan them in.
